Former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker spoke out about his next opponent, South African Dricus du Plessis, and explained why he has beaten all of his previous opponents in the league.
Robert Whittaker
I do believe that is one of the major reasons why Dricus has had the success he's had, because he's going up against these dudes and these guys are not giving him his credit. I definitely am not looking past Dricus. He’s too dangerous, and the fight has too much gravity in July, and all my focus and attention, and dedication is going into July.
Recall that du Plessis and Whittaker fight will take place July 8 at UFC 290 in (Las Vegas).
Whittaker, 32, had his last fight in September, 2022, at UFC Fight Night 209, where he won by unanimous decision over Marvin Vettori. He has 24 wins and six losses under his belt.
Du Plessis, 29, defeated Derek Brunson by TKO in the second round at UFC 285 in March 2023. He has 18 wins and two losses under his belt.
