Weidman, Who Came Back After Severe Leg Break, Suffers Knee Injury And May Be Out For A Year

On August 20, former middleweight champion Chris Weidman suffered an ACL tear during his fight with Brad Tavares at UFC 292 in Boston, USA.

According to UFC President Dana White, Weidman may need knee surgery and quit fighting for one year.

Recall, Weidman lost to Tavares by unanimous decision of judges. This was Chris's first fight after a bad leg fracture, received in April 2021.

Tavares, 35, previously stepped into the octagon in April 2023 at UFC Fight Night 222, losing to Bruno Silva by technical knockout in the first round. He has 20 wins and eight losses under his belt.

In his previous fight, which took place in April 2021 at UFC 261, Weidman lost to Uriah Hall by TKO in the first round. Chris, 38, has 15 wins and seven losses on his record.
