Famous Russian UFC heavyweight Alexander Volkov will be out for a month to recover from an injury. This information was confirmed by Volkov's team to TASS.
Earlier reports said that Volkov sustained a leg injury, resulting in the postponement of his rematch against French fighter Ciryl Gane, originally scheduled for October 26. The fight has been rescheduled for December 8 in Las Vegas.
The first matchup between Volkov and Gane took place in June 2021 during UFC Fight Night 190. This fight went the distance, ending with Gane winning by unanimous decision.
Volkov last entered the octagon against Sergei Pavlovich in June of this year at UFC on ABC 6, winning that bout by unanimous decision as well after going the full distance. His professional record stands at 38 wins and 10 losses.
Gane fought most recently against Sergey Spivak in September 2023 at UFC Fight Night 226. In this match, which was stopped in the second round, Gane secured a victory by technical knockout. His career record includes 12 wins and two losses.
