Volkanovski: Pereira Will Knock Out Ankalaev in Second or Third Round

Former UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski shared his prediction for the title fight in the light heavyweight division between Alex Pereira and Magomed Ankalaev, set to take place on March 9 at UFC 313.

Alexander Volkanovski, quoted by Bloodyelbow
Pereira’s confidence and understanding - he’s always had a good understanding, but now an even better understanding of the grappling, takedown defense, and all that sort of stuff. I am gonna go with the favorite on this one. Alex Pereira, KO, I’m gonna go with TKO/KO…I don’t think it’s gonna be early rounds, [he] could definitely do it straight away. I’m thinking maybe second or third round TKO.

Magomed Ankalaev last fought in October 2024 at UFC 308, winning by unanimous decision against Aleksandar Rakic. He has a record of 19 wins, one loss, and one draw, with one fight being declared no contest.

Alex Pereira last entered the octagon in October 2024 at UFC 307, defeating Khalil Rountree by technical knockout in the fourth round. His record stands at 12 victories and two defeats.
