A video of the conversation between UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev of Russia and Brazilian Charles Oliveira right after the fight has been published online.
- I was only promoting our fight. I actually respect you a lot. I love you, brother, - said Makhachev.
- You're a champion, a great champion, - Oliveira replied.
Makhachev and Oliveira met in the octagon in the main event of UFC 280, which took place in October of this year. In that encounter, the Russian fighter choked his opponent in the second round. Thus, Islam won the UFC lightweight championship belt.
Makhachev had his UFC debut fight against U.S. representative Leo Kuntz in May 2015. That fight was won by the Russian athlete with a second-round submission. He has 23 wins and one defeat under his belt in mixed martial arts.
