Velasquez Sentenced to Five Years in Prison

Former UFC heavyweight Cain Velasquez has been sentenced to five years in prison by a Santa Clara County court for attempted murder and assault with a firearm, offenses committed in 2022.

The deputy district attorney had requested a sentence ranging from 30 years to life imprisonment, while the defense argued for probation or a suspended sentence.

In February 2022, Velasquez carried out an armed attack on Harry Goularte, who had molested his 4-year-old son at a daycare. Velasquez spent eight months in jail and was released on bail in November 2022.

Velasquez's last fight was against Francis Ngannou in February 2019 at UFC on ESPN 1, which ended in a first-round knockout loss for Cain.

He made his MMA debut in October 2006 against Jesse Fujarczyk, winning by technical knockout in the first round. Velasquez holds a record of 14 wins and three losses.
