Russian UFC bantamweight Umar Nurmagomedov has announced that his fight against Song Yadong will not take place, as the Chinese fighter has sustained an injury. The bout was scheduled for December 15 at UFC on ESPN 63 in Tampa (USA).
I am always ready, and right now I am waiting for an opponent, as Yadong declined to fight in December — I was told he is injured. I am not waiting for anyone and I want to fight before Ramadan. I hope UFC finds an opponent. And the title, inshaAllah, is just a matter of time.
Nurmagomedov last stepped into the octagon against Cory Sandhagen in August of this year at UFC on ABC 7. That fight went the distance and ended with Umar winning by unanimous decision. His record stands at 18 wins with no losses.
Yadong fought Petr Yan in March of this year at UFC 299, where he also lost by unanimous decision after a full-length bout. His record includes 21 wins, eight losses, one draw, and one fight deemed a no contest.
