During a press conference, David Shaw, Senior Vice President of the American MMA promotion UFC, addressed inquiries about when the organization plans to hold a tournament in Africa.
According to Shaw, the timing will depend on the approval of UFC President Dana White. Should White give the green light, the organization will begin planning the event immediately. However, Shaw is optimistic that the tournament will definitely take place in 2025.
It’s worth noting that on August 18th, UFC 305 featured a main event in which South African fighter Dricus du Plessis triumphed over Nigerian Israel Adesanya in a headline event.
Du Plessis has a record of 22 victories and 2 defeats, while Adesanya's record stands at 24 wins and 4 losses.
