Ali Abdelaziz, head of the Dominance MMA Management representing Kayla Harrison, has stated that the American fighter may contend for the UFC interim title in the women's bantamweight division.
Ali Abdelaziz
This is what I was being told. Julianna Pena, if she's not ready to fight Kayla, she might have some health problem, it's going to be an interim title. Hundred percent this is what's going to happen. And the UFC is just not going to hold the division because somebody don't want to fight or are injured. If you out more than eight, nine months, UFC should make interim title. Who should fight Kayla for the interim belt? I think 100 percent (Pennington). I’m not the matchmakers.
Recall that Harrison made her UFC debut in April 2024, facing Holly Holm at UFC 300. The fight ended with Kayla winning by submission in the second round. In October of the same year, during UFC 307, she won against Ketlen Vieira by unanimous decision. Harrison's record stands at 18 wins and 1 loss.
