Russian light heavyweight fighter Azamat Murzakanov spoke exclusively to Telecomasia.net about the reasons behind his 180-day suspension from competition.
There was a banned substance found in a legal drug that wasn’t stated in the composition. I sent the sample to their laboratory for testing. They conducted an analysis and found the source of the banned substance. The commission assured me that if it showed up in the sample, they wouldn’t have any issues with me, but they still suspended me for several months.
It should be noted that Murzakanov was scheduled to fight Nikita Krylov at UFC 309 in November 2024 but withdrew from the bout just ten days prior to the event. In December, it was revealed that Azamat's test returned a positive result for a low-level presence of a metabolite. Murzakanov holds a record of 14 wins and no losses in mixed martial arts.
