Famous mixed martial artist Khamzat Chimaev, who competes in the UFC middleweight division, has announced that he has obtained citizenship in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

It is my honour and privilege to be able to represent this beautiful nation both as an athlete and a citizen. I would like to thank the UAE for its support and I will do my best to make this country proud of me.
Chimaev's last fight took place in October 2024 at UFC 308 against former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker. In that match, Khamzat secured a victory by submission in the first round.
Chimaev made his UFC debut in July 2020, facing Welsh fighter John Phillips. In that bout, which ended in the second round, Khamzat won by choke hold. He currently holds a record of 14 wins and no losses.
