Former UFC bantamweight champion Glover Teixeira published a post dedicated to Anthony Johnson, who passed away Nov. 13 at the age of 38.
Glover Teixeira
I am so sad to hear about this news. One of the scariest and toughest competitors I have ever faced and one of the nicest and most humble people I have ever met. My heart is broken. My condolences to his family.
Anthony Johnson died of organ failure due to non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, a rare disease of the immune system.
Teixeira and Johnson met in August 2016 at UFC 202, and Anthony won by knockout in the 13th second of the first round.
Johnson last fought against Jose Augusto Azevedo Barros at Bellator 258 last May. That fight ended with Johnson winning by knockout in the second round.
