Former UFC light heavyweight champion Brazilian Glover Teixeira and American Jamahal Hill will fight for the vacant light heavyweight title on January 21 at UFC 283 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It was announced by UFC President Dana White at the press-conference after the UFC 282 tournament, which ended early on December 11 in Las Vegas.
Recall that the main event of UFC 282 featured a light heavyweight title fight between Magomed Ankalaev and Jan Blachowicz. This confrontation lasted the whole distance and ended in a draw. Thus, the title remained vacant.
Teixeira had his last fight against Jiří Procházka of Czech Republic at UFC Fight Night 275 this past June. In that match, Glover was defeated by a choke in the fifth round. He has 33 wins and eight losses under his belt.
Hill last appeared in the Octagon against Brazilian Thiago Santos at UFC Vegas 59 in August of this year. That fight ended in favor of Jamahal by TKO in the fourth round. He has 11 wins and one loss.
