Former UFC bantamweight champion American Aljamain Sterling spoke out on his social media about the referee's stoppage in his past fight against Sean O'Malley.
Recall, Sterling lost the title to O'Malley by technical knockout in the second round in the main event of UFC 292 in Boston (USA).
Aljamain Sterling on his social media
It was very odd to me. Rolling backwards to all 4’s isn’t showing intelligent defense, I guess. I never “went out”, was moving the on the ground, but that’s the game. All comes down to the ref judgement, which is out of my control. I should’ve never rushed the 2nd RD action. That’s on me.
Sterling, 34, had his previous fight in May 2023 at UFC 288, defeating Henry Cejudo by split decision. He has 23 wins and four losses under his belt.
O'Malley, 28, previously stepped into the octagon in October 2022 at UFC 280, defeating Petr Yan by split decision. He has 17 wins and one loss on his record.
