The fight between top UFC welterweights American Stephen Thompson and Brazilian fighter Michel Pereira has been removed from the card of the UFC 289 tournament to be held on June 10 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada.
According to BJPenn, the contracts for the fight were not sent to the fighters on time, and now the bout has been rescheduled for July.
Thompson, 40, last entered the Octagon in December 2022 at UFC on ESPN 42, defeating Kevin Holland by TKO in the fourth round. He has 17 wins and six losses under his belt.
Pereira, 29, had his last fight in May 2022 at UFC Fight Night 206, beating Santiago Ponzinibbio by split decision. He has 28 wins and 12 losses under his belt.
