Former two-weight UFC champion Georges St-Pierre has reached out to current UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili, who has recently broken his long-standing record for the most takedowns in UFC history, a record that stood for over seven years.
Georges St-Pierre
Records are meant to be broken, so congratulations. Until a new guy tries to get yours. Georgians are very tough; a lot of them help me in wrestling back home, so I'm very happy that you represent them so well," said Saint-Pierre during a meeting with Dvalishvili at UFC Fight Night 254.
Dvalishvili last fought Umar Nurmagomedov in January this year at UFC 311. In this bout, which went the full distance, Merab won by unanimous decision, successfully defending his UFC title. His record stands at 19 wins and four losses.
St-Pierre's last fight was against Michael Bisping in November 2017 at UFC 217. In that fight, stopped in the third round, Georges won by technical submission. His record has 26 wins and two losses.
