Former UFC middleweight and light heavyweight title contender Chael Sonnen sharply criticized the league's president Dana White on his social media.
Sonnen posted several messages, claiming that White took millions of dollars from him as well as the new and old fighters to promote Israel Adesanya. Sonnen noted that White could have given that money to other fighters, but he tried to turn Adesanya into the league's new star.
I found this out while walking my dogs this morning. My heart sank. I trusted these people throughout my career. I've had dinners with them. They've met my family. If I only knew. People are texting me saying to stop. They say, 'Dana will call you and explain everything.' I say, 'NO.' I have to let the world know.
On June 16 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Sonnen fought under the rules of boxing against Anderson Silva, that fight resulted in a draw.
