Former UFC fighter and analyst Chael Sonnen commented on a possible bout between American Michael Chandler and Russian Islam Makhachev.
Sonnen stated on his YouTube channel:
When Michael Chandler is offered Islam Makhachev, it's a message that's being delivered to him that he needs to be able to hear. The words, 'We can't have you, Conor McGregor. We're not going to have you, Conor McGregor.' Don't make that mistake. You've got to get the matches you can get when you can get them.
Chandler last fought against Dustin Poirier in November 2022 at UFC 281. In that fight, Michael was defeated by a choking submission in the third round. He has 23 wins and eight losses on his record.
McGregor last went into the octagon against the same Poirier in July 2021 at UFC 264. This fight Conor lost by technical knockout after breaking his leg. He has 22 wins and six defeats on his record.
