Kyrgyz representative Valentina Shevchenko shared her emotions following her victory over Mexican athlete Alexa Grasso at UFC 306.
On September 15 at MSG Sphere in Las Vegas, Shevchenko claimed victory by unanimous decision, regaining the UFC women's flyweight championship belt.
Shevchenko said in a post-fight interview:
It's a dream come true fighting in the Sphere. I want to thank the UFC for what they are doing for us fighters. I appreciate it with all my heart. Everything about this fight was more satisfying [than the last one]. The game plan was to go in there and fight to the end. Thank you Alexa. Thank you your team. I think this rivality is going to stay for the history forever.
It's worth noting that in March 2023 at UFC 285, Grasso defeated Shevchenko by submission in the fourth round, claiming the championship in the women's flyweight division. They faced each other again in September at UFC Fight Night 227, ending in a draw.
Grasso now holds a record of 16 wins, four losses, and one draw, while Shevchenko has 24 wins, four losses, and one draw.
