French UFC lightweight fighter Benoit Saint Denis made a statement after his loss to American Dustin Poirier at UFC 299 on 10 March in Miami, USA.
Saint-Denis wrote on social networks:
Benoit Saint Denis
Unfortunately tonight I wasn't able to express myself fully. My body couldn't cope after a week of antibiotics to fight an infection. I was present, but my body was absent, it wasn't reacting as usual. I only had one round to give you.
Recall, Poirier defeated Saint-Denis by knockout in the second round.
The 28-year-old Saint-Denis previously entered the octagon in November 2023 at UFC 295, defeating Matt Frevola by knockout in the first round. He has 13 wins and two losses on his record.
Poirier, 35, had his previous fight in July 2023 at UFC 291, losing to Justin Gaethje by knockout in the second round. He has 30 wins and eight losses on his record.
