The cause of death of UFC Hall of Fame member Stephan Bonnar, 45, who was reported dead in December 2022, has been revealed, reports MMA Fighting.
According to a source citing the Clark County coroner's office, Bonnar died due to a drug overdose. Fentanyl, para-fluorofentanyl and mitragynine were discovered in his blood. It was previously reported that the fighter died due to cardiovascular disease.
Bonnar had his last fight in November 2014 in the Bellator promotion, losing to Tito Ortiz by split decision. In October 2012 at UFC 153 he lost to Anderson Silva by TKO.
