Former UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier spoke about a possible return of Irishman Conor McGregor.
Dustin Poirier in an interview with Lee Griffin III
Maybe he does come back, but I just think that he has an addiction to the limelight. Look, I love to talk trash on Conor, but if anybody can put it all together and come back, if he can find that passion and that fire, and put it together, this guy can. He has something special, but only he knows when he looks in the mirror if he can really do it again.
To recall, their first clash in September 2014 at UFC 178 ended with McGregor winning by technical knockout in the first round. In January 2021, Poirier and McGregor had a rematch at UFC 257, where Dustin won by knockout in the second round. In July 2021, at UFC 264, Poirier defeated Conor again, this time by technical knockout in the first round.
The 35-year-old Poirier boasts 30 wins and nine losses, with one fight declared a no contest. Meanwhile, 35-year-old McGregor has 22 victories and six defeats.
