PFL CEO Peter Murray has revealed the launch of the PFL Africa regional league, which will be presented by former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.
We’ll be making announcements in March on PFL Africa because it is on for 2025 with Francis at the helm as our chairman.
So that league, which will be our third official PFL international regional league, PFL Africa, will launch in 2025 with competition and athletes from different countries across the continent competing to become champion of PFL Africa. Francis and the PFL will support athletes on the continent. They will not have to leave the continent to compete as professionals, and they’ll have a pathway to become global champions.
It will be recalled that Francis Ngannou will have a boxing match against Anthony Joshua on March 8 in Saudi Arabia.
Ngannou made his professional ring debut in October 2023. He had a bout against WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. In that fight, Francis was defeated by a split decision of the judges.
Joshua last stepped into the ring against Otto Wallin in December 2023 in Saudi Arabia. That fight, which was stopped in the fifth round, ended in favor of Anthony by technical knockout. He has 27 wins (24 by knockout) and three losses on his record.
