Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Raquel Pennington has commented on the potential return of two-division champion Amanda Nunes to the octagon.
On October 6 at UFC 307, Julianna Peña defeated Pennington and called on Nunes to return to finish their trilogy. Following this, Amanda shared a post on social media asking Dana White to call her.
Raquel Pennington
Obviously Amanda and I have fought but we’ve known each other since Invicta. I’ve had conversations with both Amanda and Nina, and they’re just like, ‘Yeah, we’re done for now’ type thing, and ‘we might be coming back’. She’s known as the GOAT and she’s done amazing things, and she loves to shut everybody’s mouth. And she’s made the comment that she would love to just shut Kayla up, [and] we all know how she feels about Julianna, and she said that if Julianna ever got the belt back, she was gonna come back and beat the brakes off of her. I’m sure the world would absolutely love to see her back.
It’s worth noting that in December 2021, at UFC 269, Peña defeated Nunes by submission in the second round. Their rematch in July 2022 at UFC 277 ended with Nunes winning by unanimous decision.
