Former UFC women's bantamweight champion Julianna Pena commented on the announcement of the fight between Raquel Pennington and Mayra Bueno Silva.
As a reminder, Pennington and Silva will fight for the vacant women's bantamweight division title at UFC 297 on January 20 in Toronto, Canada.
Sportskeeda quotes Pena as saying:
I’m injured. I will fight the winner. My next fight will be for a title. Guaranteed. I feel bad. Not for myself. But for the fans that are being force fed this horrible fight. What a disaster.
Pennington last fought against Ketlen Vieira in January of this year at UFC Fight Night 217. In that confrontation, Raquel won by split decision of the judges. She has 15 wins and eight losses on her record.
Silva last stepped into the octagon against Holly Holm in July of this year at UFC on ESPN 49. Mayra initially won that fight, but later the result of the fight was canceled due to a positive doping test of the Brazilian. She has 10 wins, two losses and one draw on her record.
