Reigning UFC bantamweight champion Sean O'Malley said the promotion's management is willing to let him go for one boxing bout against former WBC interim champion Ryan Garcia.
O'Malley said on The MMA Hour podcast:
I know that, I feel that, I know that I’m going to box one day. They said the Ryan Garcia’s, like he would be the one that has the most potential for me. As far as just a big pay-per-view. The UFC said if it makes us money, we’ll do it.
O'Malley, 29, last fought against Aljamain Sterling in August 2023 at UFC 292. In that confrontation, Sean won by technical knockout in the second round. He has 17 wins and one loss on his record.
Garcia last entered the ring for a fight against Gervonta Davis in April this year in Las Vegas. In this confrontation, Ryan suffered a defeat by technical knockout in the seventh round. He has 23 wins (19 by knockout) and one defeat on his record.
