Dhiego Lima, the coach of former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira has spoken about the organization of the rematch against Islam Makhachev.

Guys, I want to say that Charles wasn't offered a rematch with Makhachev, as some websites said. That isn't true. Charles will indeed get a chance to fight at the tournament in Brazil, but it's certainly not a rematch with Islam. Oliveira will have a different opponent.
Oliveira finally lost his shot at the light-heavyweight title on October 22 in Abu Dhabi in the main event of UFC 280, where Russian Islam Makhachev defeated him by submission (arm triangle choke) in the second round, becoming the new belt owner.
Charles was to make his second title defense in May 2022, at UFC 274: then he defeated Justin Gaethje by submission in the first round, but lost the title because he couldn't make it within the weight limit and was therefore eliminated. Oliveira has 33 wins and nine losses under his belt.
