UFC CEO Dana White spoke about the future of Charles Oliveira, who turned down a fight with lightweight division champion Islam Makhachev because of a cut.
We will remind, Makhachev will rematch Alexander Volkanovski on October 21 at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi.
White said:
I have no idea. I have no idea what we’re gonna do with Charles until – but obviously, if I have to answer that question, I’d say yeah (he gets the winner). I mean, the kid got a bad beat, got a bad cut literally hours before he was supposed to fly out. But, yeah, I’m not even thinking about that yet.
Makhachev and Volkanovski first met in February 2023 at UFC 284. Makhachev won the fight by unanimous decision over the five rounds.
Makhachev has 24 wins and one loss. Volkanovski has 26 wins and two losses.
