Ngannou Explains Decision to Shift Fight with Ferreira to the Ground

Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou from Cameroon explained why he chose to transition his fight with Brazilian Renan Ferreira to wrestling.

Ngannou said after the fight:

That was an option; I'm a mixed martial artist so that means I'm multi-dimensional so it was definitely an option. Not the only alternative but since the opportunity was there, I was here to take everything that came my way and here we are.

On the night of October 20, Ngannou defeated Ferreira by technical knockout in the first round. Ngannou's previous fight was against Anthony Joshua under boxing rules in March this year. In that bout, which was stopped in the second round, Francis suffered a knockout defeat. His mixed martial arts record includes 18 wins and three losses.
