Former UFC double champion Conor McGregor shared on his social media that he received his jiu-jitsu black belt from his coach John Kavanagh.
McGregor wrote:
Received my black belt tonight from my coach, friend, and mentor, John Kavanagh! 20 years of hard work! Thank you John for everything over the years, and to all of my team mates throughout this incredible jiu jitsu journey! Thank you all so much from the bottom of my heart!
McGregor previously announced on his X account (formerly Twitter) that his bout against Michael Chandler will take place on December 16 at UFC 296 in Las Vegas. However, it's worth noting that Conor missed the deadline to join the USADA testing pool, so he cannot compete until the spring of 2024, according to the agency's rules.
McGregor last entered the octagon against Dustin Poirier in July 2021 at UFC 264, a fight Conor lost by technical knockout after breaking his leg. He has 22 wins and six losses on his record.
