
Former UFC double champion Conor McGregor could face up to seven years in prison in Ireland for inciting hatred against immigrants.
According to the Irish Independent, the head of the Irish Director of Public Prosecutions examined posts made by McGregor in November 2023, just before riots erupted in Dublin. The official concluded that McGregor’s publications may have contributed to the protests that escalated into riots.
It has been reported that the law McGregor may have violated carries a penalty of up to seven years in prison.
Conor McGregor last stepped into the octagon in July 2021 at UFC 264, where he lost to Dustin Poirier via technical knockout (due to a leg injury) in the first round.
McGregor made his UFC debut in April 2013 against Marcus Brimage, winning the fight by technical knockout in the first round. His professional record stands at 22 wins and six losses.
