Former UFC two-weight champion Irishman Conor McGregor explained why he decided to become a trainer on the reality show The Ultimate Fighter before returning to the octagon.

I want to be fully immersed. Immersed in this game. Being around young and hungry fighters, I get involved. That was my motivation and the reason I made that decision. To give my all, to pass on my wisdom and knowledge to the next generation and feed off that energy.
McGregor made his last appearance in the Octagon against American Dustin Poirier in July 2021, at UFC 264, a fight that Conor lost by TKO as a result of a broken leg.
McGregor had his debut fight in the UFC against American Marcus Brimage in April 2013. Conor won that fight by TKO in the first round. He has 22 wins and six losses under his belt.
