Former UFC double champion Conor McGregor has stated that current light heavyweight Champion Alex Pereira deserves to be ranked at the top of the pound-for-pound list in the UFC.
McGregor said on The Schmo’s YouTube channel:
2024 has been Alex Pereira's year. No one can deny that. And if we go by that, forget belts, forget any of that: in competition, he has [three] fights this year, [three] KOs, and his most impressive one was most recently. I’d put Alex as No 1 [in the pound-for-pound rankings].
Alex Pereira last entered the octagon in October 2024 at UFC 307, where he defeated Khalil Rountree by technical knockout in the fourth round. His previous fight was in June 2024 at UFC 303, where he won against Jiri Prochazka by technical knockout in the second round. Pereira's record now stands at 12 wins and 2 losses.
