Former BMF title holder and ex-UFC fighter Jorge Masvidal revealed that he lost $100,000 betting on his friend Dustin Poirier to win his fight against Justin Gaethje at UFC 291.
Jorge Masvidal, quoted by MMA Mania
Dustin looked in the best shape ever, and obviously he’s my teammate so I wanted the world for him – I wanted him to win, you know? Making wagers that I probably shouldn't, I put a hundred thousand dollars on DP, on Dustin Poirier. Kids, I'm sorry, you got to go to public school now.
Recall, in the main event of UFC 291, Poirier lost to Gaethje by knockout in the second round.
38-year-old Masvidal finished his career in April 2023. Jorge's last fight was against Gilbert Burns this past April at UFC 287. In this confrontation, Burns won by unanimous decision of the judges. Masvidal has 35 wins and 17 losses on his record.
