Makhachev and Volkanovski will fight for the lightweight title on February 12 at UFC 284 in Perth, Australia.
Makhachev, 31, last faced Brazilian Charles Oliveira in the UFC 280 main event. That fight ended with Islam winning by submission (arm triangle choke) in the second round. Makhachev has 23 wins and one loss to his record.
Volkanovski, 34, last fought Max Holloway in July of this year at UFC 276. That fight ended with Volkanovski winning by unanimous decision. He has 25 wins and one loss on his record.
