UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev has responded to Dan Hooker's accusations that the Russian used saline injections before his fight with Alex Volkanovski.

There is a committee. I don't even want to comment on it. There are experts from RUSADA working with USADA. I was tested four times before and after the fight. Someone showed a picture of me with a bruise on my vein. But Australia had their own commission that took blood the week of the fight, which was Wednesday. They started taking pictures on Thursday, that's when we had the photo shoot. It's just some fighter blew the whistle and there was no fuss from the UFC or USADA.
Remember, on February 12th in Perth, Australia, at the UFC 284 tournament, Islam Makhachev fought Alex Volkanovski. This fight, which took place in all allotted five rounds, ended with the victory of the Russian fighter by a unanimous decision of the judges.
In October, 2022, at UFC 280, Makhachev defeated Charles Oliveira by choke in the second round. In February of the same year, Islam defeated Bobby Green via first-round TKO at UFC Fight Night 202. Makhachev, 31, has a record of 24 wins and one loss.
