
UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev may face former UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria in a bout scheduled for 2025. Journalist Ariel Helwani broke the news on social media.
According to his information, the fight may happen during the International Fight Week, which is set to take place in Las Vegas from June 25 to June 29.
Topuria last fought Max Holloway in October 2024 at UFC 308. Ilia won that match by knockout in the third round. His current record stands at 16 wins and no losses.
Makhachev last stepped into the octagon against Renato Moicano in January of this year at UFC 311. He won that fight by submission in the first round, successfully defending his championship belt. His record now stands at 27 wins and one loss.
