The main event of UFC 294, which will take place on October 21 in Abu Dhabi, will feature a rematch between the promotion's lightweight champion Islam Makhachev and Charles Oliveira. This was announced by UFC president Dana White.
Makhachev and Oliveira first met in the octagon in October 2022 at UFC 280. That fight ended in Islam's favor with a choking submission in the second round.
Makhachev's last fight was against Alex Volkanovski in February of this year at UFC 284. In this confrontation, Islam won by unanimous decision of the judges. He has 24 wins and one loss on his record.
Oliveira last entered the octagon against Beneil Dariush in June of this year at UFC 289. Charles won that fight by technical knockout in the first round. He has 34 wins and nine losses on his record.
