Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov purchased custom shorts of Dustin Poirier, in which the American made an unsuccessful attempt to take the UFC lightweight belt from Islam Makhachev. Poirier told about it in an interview with MMA Junkie.
According to Poirier, the lot put up on eBay from his charity The Good Fight Foundation was paid for by Nurmagomedov after the winning bidder failed to deposit the money.
As a result, Khabib contacted the American through his manager Ali Abdelaziz and paid $30,000, along with the shorts, receiving bandages, gloves and the T-shirt in which Poirier entered the fight.
The fight between Poirier and Makhachev took place this past June in the main event of UFC 302. In this fight, Islam won by choke in the fifth round. He has 26 wins and one loss on his record. Dustin has 30 wins and nine losses, and one more of his fights was recognized as a no contest.
