Former UFC welterweight title contender Jorge Masvidal is optimistic about making his return to the octagon in the first quarter of 2025.
Masvidal told Bo Nickal on his YouTube channel:
Next year in Miami, I’m there. If they [the UFC] take it to Miami, I’m going to f**k somebody up in Miami.
He added that practicing MMA is hard work, that is putting a strain on one’s body, emphasizing that MMA requires a fighter to be versatile and deal with aggressive styles of fighting. According to Masvidal, time away from fighting allowed him to heal.
It's worth mentioning that during a press conference, UFC President Dana White responded to a question about Masvidal's potential return by saying, "Probably not."
Masvidal has not competed in MMA since April 2023, when he lost to Gilbert Burns by unanimous decision at UFC 287. His career record stands at 35 wins and 17 losses.
