Brandon Gibson, coach of UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones, expressed his confidence that his protégé could continue his career after the fight with Stipe Miocic.
Gibson is cited by the MMA Fighting website as saying:
I think physically, mentally he could go in there and have five or six more great performances. There's nothing left for Jon to prove. I think he really wants this fight with Stipe. I think this fight will help solidify Jon's status as a great heavyweight champion.
On November 17th, Jones will fight on the UFC 309 card in New York City, facing former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic.
Jones last fought in March 2023 at UFC 285 defeating Ciryl Gane by submission in the first round. He has 27 wins and one defeat to his name.
Miocic last entered the octagon in March 2021 at UFC 260, losing by knockout in the second round against Francis Ngannou. He has 20 wins and four defeats on his record.
