UFC heavyweight champion John Jones shared his thoughts on the upcoming heavyweight boxing match between Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou, set to take place on March 8th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Jones said during an interview at the PFL vs Bellator tournament:
I’m rooting for Francis to win only because of his story, how far he’s coming in life, him being a fellow mixed martial artist. How could you not root for Francis? Francis is a wonderful, stand-up person. If I had to personally put my money on it, not that I gamble, I would put it on Anthony Joshua, but I am rooting for Francis Ngannou. Sorry, Francis.
Joshua's last fight was against Otto Wallin in December 2023 in Saudi Arabia, where he secured a technical knockout victory in the fifth round. He holds a record of 27 wins (24 by knockout) and three losses.
Ngannou made his professional ring debut in October 2023, facing WBC heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury. The fight went the distance and ended with Ngannou losing by a split decision from the judges.
