Brazilian UFC fighter Paulo Costa said whether his fight with Khamzat Chimaev, scheduled for Oct. 21 at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi (UAE), could be derailed.
Earlier, Costa said he had suffered an arm injury three weeks ago. The Brazilian had to undergo surgery.
In an interview with YouTube channel MMAFightingonSBN, Costa said:
I want this fight so bad, that’s why I’m still in this fight. I did a surgery, but it doesn’t [matter], I’m going be there anyway. This guy, he needs to run [more than that] to escape from me. I’m here to beat him.
Chimaev last fought against Kevin Holland in September 2022 at UFC 279. In that confrontation, Khamzat won by first-round choke hold. He has 12 wins and no losses on his record.
Costa last entered the octagon against Luke Rockhold in August 2022 at UFC 278. That fight ended in Paulo's favor by unanimous decision of the judges. He has 14 wins and two losses.
