Former UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway believes that former division champion Alexander Volkanovski from Australia deserves an immediate rematch with Ilia Topuria.
Holloway said on his YouTube channel:
I thought this whole time in my mind, if Topuria was to beat Volk in any way, then Volk gets a direct rematch. Volk did enough work to get a direct rematch…He still earned it; he did what he did, has a bunch of title defenses.
It's worth noting that on February 18 at the UFC 298 event, Volkanovski suffered a defeat to Topuria by knockout in the second round.
The 35-year-old Volkanovski's last fight was in October 2023 at UFC 294, where he lost to Islam Makhachev by knockout in the first round. He holds 26 wins and four losses in his record.
32-year-old Holloway's most recent fight was against "Korean Zombie" in August of this year at UFC Fight Night 225. Max secured victory by knockout in the third round. He has 25 wins and seven losses to his name.
