Irish fighter Ian Garry announced after his victory over Brazilian Carlos Prates that he will serve as a backup fighter in the bout between UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena, scheduled for May 11 at UFC 315 in Montreal, Canada.
Garry and Prates met on April 27 in the main event of UFC on ESPN 66 in Kansas City, USA. The match went the full distance and ended in a unanimous decision victory for Ian.
Muhammad last fought against Leon Edwards in July 2024 at UFC 304. Belal won that fight by unanimous decision, securing the UFC welterweight championship title. Muhammad's record stands at 24 wins and three losses, with one fight declared as a no contest.
Maddalena last entered the octagon against Gilbert Burns in March 2024 at UFC 299. That fight, which was stopped in the third round, ended with Maddalena winning by knockout. He has a record of 17 wins and two losses.
