American UFC fighter Justin Gaethje spoke out about the upcoming lightweight title rematch between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski, which will take place on October 21 at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi.
Telecomasia.net correspondent quotes Gaethje as saying:
I think Islam will defeat Volkanovski again. Maybe more convincingly, but we'll see. Anything can happen in a fight at any moment. I would like to meet the winner of this fight and the holder of the belt.
The first fight between Makhachev and Volkanovski took place in February this year at UFC 284 in Australia. In this confrontation Islam won by unanimous decision of judges. He has 24 wins and one defeat on his record. Alexander has 26 wins and two defeats on his record.
Gaethje last entered the octagon against Dustin Poirier in July of this year at UFC 291. That fight, which was stopped in the second round, ended in favor of Justin by knockout. He has 25 wins and four losses under his belt.
