Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou has responded to a claim by current champion Jon Jones, blaming the Cameroonian for their fight never taking place.
Francis Ngannou
I've been trying to fight Jon Jones for almost three years. The talks started after my fight with Jairzinho Rozenstruik, then they promised that the winner of our fight with Stipe Miocic would fight Jones, but it didn't happen. So I did my best to make that fight happen.
Ngannou left the UFC in January because he could not reach an agreement with the promotion on a new contract. His last fight was against Ciryl Gane at UFC 270 in January 2022. In this fight Francis won by unanimous decision. He has 17 wins and three losses under his belt.
The last time Jones faced Gane was at UFC 285 on March 5. That fight lasted the whole distance and ended in John's favor by a chokehold in the first round. Thus, he won the UFC heavyweight championship belt. He has 27 wins and one defeat under his belt.
