Former Invicta FC champion and Brazilian athlete Livinha Souza, who previously fought in the UFC, was arrested in Araraquara, Brazil, for alleged involvement in illegal drug trafficking and weapon possession.
According to local police, they received an anonymous tip on Thursday morning and went to Souza's home with a search warrant, where they found a handgun, ammunition, marijuana, and steroids.
Souza denies any involvement in drug trafficking. The fighter’s lawyer stated that the firearm was acquired in the past, but due to a series of setbacks, she has yet to legally secure ownership of it.
The 33-year-old Souza last fought in October 2021 at UFC Fight Night 196, where she lost to Randa Markos via unanimous decision.
In April 2015, Souza became the Invicta FC champion by defeating Katja Kankaanpää with a chokehold in the fourth round. Her record stands at 14 wins and four losses.
