Former UFC bantamweight MMA fighter Julie Kedzie has announced her intention to donate her brain to science after she developed symptoms of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).

It seems a very normal thing to do. I've been hit in the head a lot so we might as well see what is in there and get some good out of it for data. I want to give back to the women in this sport because there are all these studies on male athletes' brains and there might be something completely different from a female athlete's perspective.
The 42-year-old Kedzie last fought in December 2013 at UFC Fight Night 33, losing to Bethe Correia by split decision. She has 16 wins and 13 losses on her record.
