American mixed martial arts fighter Cain Carrizosa, formerly of the UFC, was arrested on Monday by police in St. George, Utah.
The fighter faces charges of second-degree aggravated assault, robbery and domestic violence in the presence of a child.
On January 1, police received a call from the fighter's girlfriend's parents, who reported hearing screams and sounds similar to flesh blows. According to police, the woman showed signs of facial injuries, lost consciousness and was having periodical seizures as the ambulance took her to the hospital.
Carrizosa had already been charged in March 2022 when he punched his girlfriend in the back of the head, knocked her down and dragged her to the sidewalk, where he left her unconscious. Moreover, the affidavit alleges that Carrizosa stole the woman's phone.
Carrizosa has made two appearances in the UFC. He made his promotion debut at UFC 177 in August 2014, losing to Chris Wade by a first-round choke. At UFC Fight Night 62 in March 2015, Carrizosa lost by unanimous decision to Leonardo Texeira. After the loss, he was dismissed from the UFC.
Carrizosa, 36, had his last fight in January 2022 at Fierce FC 18, losing by TKO in the first round to Josh Wick. He has 10 wins and five losses under his belt.
